I have some questions about a worm farm?

Question by PimpW/OaDogW/OaBone: I have some concerns about a worm farm?
Lol, I've been fishing a lot a lot more lately, and while I do use artificial baits and lures, the kind of fish I am "immediately after" lately seem to favor live worms.

So, I'm seeking to build a worm farm. Now, I have two questions.

1) Can you purchase a container of worms from a tackle shop, put them in the bin, and have them multiply/reproduce, or do you need to have all-natural, "Wild" worms to do that?

two) How fast do worms reproduce? If I buy twenty four, (or otherwise capture 24) will I have any a lot more than that in two weeks? I have a fishing trip planned then and I really don't want to spend the funds on expensive pre-contained worms.

Also, I have this question: I have been obtaining red wigglers just fine, but is there a way to discover actual big nightcrawlers, in the scenario that I cannot use retailer-bought ones? If so, how?

Thanks so a lot in advance.

There's a lot much more to breeding worms than you believe. Here's a link to an post which covers this. It is in two parts, so read each. But to answer your question, No, you will not have sufficient to take fishing in two weeks, so you will just have to get what you will need to have. the last link is a place you can purchase nightcrawlers by the pound wholesale for breeding/fishing.

Does any person have a worm farm?

Question by onedrin: Does anyone have a worm farm?
I started a small worm farm final month. I followed the directions from a web website and set it up in a rubber maid bin. I put 1000 worms divided into two bins. My difficulty is, in one of the bins, the worms preserve trying to get out. They never ever can get past the lip of the lid, but when I open it.. there they are all bunched up together attempting to escape. The worms in the other bin by no means do this. I truly do not think I did something distinct in the bins. What would cause my small creatures to want to escape. Any advise on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Question by JT: Aid with beginning a worm farm business?
I want to start off a worm farm organization for enjoyable and make some additional money, plus I can use the worms for fishing and their castings for my parents garden.

Anyways I have a handful of questions. First will Red Wiggler Worms do good for each selling for fishing and selling their castings for fertilizer? Second can I use one particular "farm" for both the fertilizer and to breed worms to sell? Also if red wigglers aren't the very best for fertilizer and fishing which worms are good for each? simply because I actually only want a single worm farm to commence. Thanks for all the assist. Any other guidelines and tricks would be valuable too. Thanks.

When i got the worm farm, the book said to pour a bucket of water via the worm farm each and every two weeks. Permaculturevisions.com teach on the internet how to develop foods sustainably, without having employing pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. This two minute video explains to the young children how to utilise a worm farm. You use food waste in the best tray and the worms eat the natural waste (no meat) and migrate between the layers. The worm waste (worm poo and fluid) is collected in the bottom tray and then used as fertiliser on the garden. Visit www.Permaculturevisons.com for 60 pages of free info.

Right after 3 weeks my worms are nevertheless alive but I have a couple of questions. I feel a adjust of menu is in order probably. I also give a speedy run about the indoor garden to show the outcomes thus far. The heat pad is operating nicely for the starters but every little thing else has slowed down a little. Bit of a flicker/distortion happening with my vids at the moment.. Testing distinct settings and this 1 turned out a bit rough also.. not positive why.. attempting to function it out.. Sorry about that.
